Scientific Research Supports The Effectiveness of Subliminals
VandenBoogert, C. 1984
VandenBoogert conducted a study of subliminal and hypnotic presentations based on a random sampling of audio users employing self-appraisal methods. Comparison of VandenBoogert's findings to those at the Psychiatric Research Center in Montreal suggest that simple, emotionally rich statements are acted upon or accepted as more meaningful than hypnotic dialogues when presented subliminally.
Kostandov, E.A; Arzumanov, IuL. May-June 1978. Conditioning reflex mechanism of unconscious decision making. Zh Vyssh Nerv Deiat, 28(3), 542-8
Conditioning studies carried out by Kostandov & Arzumanov clearly indicate that subliminal stimuli can affect attitudes and behaviour.
Spence, D. 1967. Subliminal perception and perceptual defence: 2 sides of a single problem. Behavioural scince, 12(3), 183-93
Spence suggested that a stimulus may register outside of awareness and involve a change in perceptual sensitivity, which in turn then brings about an altered response (subliminal perception).
Somekh, D.E. Nov. 1976. The effect of embedded words in a brief visual display. British Journal of Psychology, 67(4), 529-35
Somekh studied subliminal versus supraliminal effects with emotive and neutral words. His findings demonstrated the effect of emotive over neutral words but only in the subliminal condition.
